A message about CHANGE

About this website:
One of my goals for 2008 was to seek out sources of inspiration to become a better me, and in turn, to hopefully become an ispiration for others, particulary with regard to charity.
I struggle to find ways to give more of my time and money to those that need it most. I find myself searching for creative ways to maximize my impact.
I want to teach my children the importance of giving. I want them to find ways to leave this world a better place than they found it.
I want to show my children, and others it doesn't take a lot to make a difference. I want my children to realize you don't have to be millionaires to "give back."
I believe the ability to make this world a better place is in all of us if we have the courage to try. I want to show that from so little we can accomplish so much.
And so this "campaign" was created.
What is it about?
It's simple. $1 a day..literally change... for change. $1 a day will be saved. At the end of the month my family will find a place to donate the money saved for the month. The challenge will be to find ways to make the most out of our money. Finding creative ways to donate $30 or so won't always be easy. Some months a simple donation to a deserving charity may do.
Why am I telling you about this?
My hope, is someone reading this will be inspired to take up the challenge and in turn hopefully inspire someone in their lives to do the same. It really is that simple.
Each month my family and I will post where/how we spent our money. We of course invite you to share your stories of how you are incorporating "change for change" into your lives. Email us at honeybee03@wi.rr.com with your story and even a picture if you like. We will post them on this blog in hopes of inspiring others to do the same. We would also love to hear your ideas on how to creatively donate monthy $$$. All reasonable comments and questions welcome. I will update the blog monthy, posting blogs of what I hope will be inspiration for all of us to make change! Also, by logging in you can post comments directly onto this site.

I ask only one thing of those that visit, even if you decide not to take up the challenge for change please forward this website address to someone you know. If you are considering taking the challenge with us- thanks so much! We realize everyone is busy and we appreciate your efforts. A word of caution. While we certainly don't discourage making just a flat out donation of your money monthly to charities please use caution when doing so. There are so many scams out there. If you have reservations about a charity, there may be a good reason! Trust your instincts. Don't give your credit card or bank information over the phone, or through the mail. Frequently making your donation in person and onsite is best. If you can't do that, go with names you know and can trust. There are several excellent websites that have done some fact checking for you http://www.charitynavigator.org/ is just one. Lastly, HAVE FUN! Team up with a friend and double your money! Ask your book club group, your church group, or your co-workers to get involved- you'd be suprised how many people want to help but just don't know where to start.
